The agreement

These terms apply every time you use an Eleuthera Island Couriers U.S. address, book a shipment or otherwise use our service. By creating an account you accept them.

We act as a freight forwarder, not as a common carrier. We arrange transport of your goods; we do not manufacture, inspect for quality or warrant the items you buy.

Your account

You must be at least eighteen to hold an account, and the details you give us must be accurate and current.

Your U.S. address and suite number are personal to you. Packages arriving without your suite number cannot be matched to your account and may be delayed, returned or, after ninety days unclaimed, disposed of.

Prohibited and restricted items

You may not ship anything prohibited by U.S. export law or Bahamian customs law. This includes, but is not limited to:

• Hazardous materials, flammable liquids and compressed gases.
• Firearms, ammunition and explosives.
• Illegal drugs and controlled substances.
• Live animals and perishable food.
• Counterfeit goods and currency.

Rates and payment

Shipping is charged on the actual weight recorded at our Fort Lauderdale warehouse, using the rates published on our Rates page at the time of shipment. Dimensional weight applies to bulky, lightweight items.

Payment is due before your package is loaded. Packages remain our property in transit until charges are paid in full. Bahamian customs duty and VAT are assessed by the government and are your responsibility.

Delivery and collection

Transit times are estimates, not guarantees. Weather, port conditions and customs inspections can delay a sailing, and we are not liable for losses caused by such delays.

Packages held at Three Island Dock for more than thirty days after notification incur storage charges. After ninety days, unclaimed packages may be disposed of to recover charges.

Liability and insurance

Our liability for loss or damage is limited to the lesser of the declared value or one hundred U.S. dollars per shipment, unless you purchase additional insurance before shipping.

Insurance is available at 1.5% of declared value and must be bought before the vessel departs. We are not liable for items packed inadequately by the sender, or for consequential losses of any kind.

Claims must be filed in writing within fourteen days of delivery or of the scheduled delivery date.

Rewards programme

Points have no cash value, are not transferable outside a linked family account and expire twelve months after they are earned. We may change the earning and redemption rates with thirty days' notice.

We may suspend or close a rewards account we believe is being used fraudulently.

Suspension and termination

You may close your account at any time. We may suspend or close an account that breaches these terms, has unpaid charges, or is used to ship prohibited goods.

Charges already incurred survive termination.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Commonwealth of The Bahamas, and disputes fall to the exclusive jurisdiction of the Bahamian courts.
